Access to documents

The department values the principles and practices of openness and accountability to its clients, staff and members of the public about departmental operations and record-keeping.

When appropriate, requests to access documents will be handled at the discretion of the work unit or officers who are routinely responsible for the relevant documents. This will be done in accordance with the department's administrative access arrangements or other statutory rights of access such as:

Fundamental to the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) is the Government's commitment that information held by agencies should be released administratively as a matter of course, unless there is a good reason not to - with formal applications under the RTI Act being necessary only as a last resort. If you wish to access information held by the department we recommend that in the first instance you peruse our Publication Scheme and Disclosure Log.

If you have been unable to find the information you are seeking on our Publication Scheme or Disclosure Log, please contact the department to discuss whether the information is able to be released under our Administrative Access Policy. In the first instance, please contact:

Information concerning related universities and statutory bodies (for example, Queensland Studies Authority, QPAC, State Library of Queensland, Australian Agricultural College Corporation) are handled by those agencies.
